York Committee Calls for Delegates [Draft]
The York Poquoson Democratic Committee is seeking delegates to attend the 1st Congressional District Convention May 2 in Fredericksburg. 15 delegates from York and 3 delegates from Poquoson will represent the Committee in selecting our District Representative. Chris Mayer and Suzanne Creasey are running for the two Representative slots allocated to York and Poquoson.
To register as a delegate, download the Word - Caucus Declaration Form

PO Box 275
Yorktown, VA 23690
We must have all forms in hand by 5:00 pm April 13. Any forms received after that date will be accepted only at the Chair’s discretion.
Delegates will be selected through an unassembled caucus to be held April 18 at a location to be determined and announced here and through the Committee email list. If fewer than 15 York and 3 Poquoson delegates sign up, the caucus will be canceled and all registered candidates will automatically become delegates.

Sorenson Institute Offers Second Round of Classes
The Sorenson Institute, which helps aspiring candidates for public office understand their part in the political process, is holding a second round of classes after the January class was filled by first-time candidates and demand remained. The training session runds from May 14-17 at Carter Hall in Millwood VA. Application deadline is March 30, but they encourage early application. The program costs $600 (shared double room), and according to YPDC members Sam Eure and Suzanne Creasey, was worth every penny. The additional session is supported by the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation. Go to the Institute’s website for more information.
York Poquoson Democrats Create ‘Associate Membership’ Status
The York Poquoson Democratic Committee, at the suggestion of Chair Mike Finn, has approved creating the position of Associate Member for the Committee. Because full membership requires the ability to vote in York and Poquoson elections, Associate Memberships offer an opportunity for students and nonresidents to have a voice in the Democratic process in this area.
